Bulgaria President Convenes National Security Council

Bulgaria's President, Georgi Parvanov, has decided to call the Consultative Council for National Security (KSNS), his press center informed Wednesday.

The meeting is scheduled for September 14. The agenda includes discussions of the compliance with the criteria of the Mechanism for Cooperation and Verification set by the European Commission to assist Bulgaria in the absorption of the EU funds.

The Deputy Prime Ministers, Simeon Djankov, who is also Finance Minister, and Tsvetan Tsvetanov, who is the Interior Minister, and Justice Minister, Margarita Popova, are asked to present their reports at the time of the meeting.

The KSNS Act postulates that the Council includes as members the Prime Minister, the Speaker of the Parliament, the Ministers of Defense, Interior, Foreign Affairs, the Director of the State National Security Agency (DANS), the Chairs of Parliamentary Groups.
