Japan's government is going to provide JPY 46,5 M (about EUR 345 000) of aid to Bulgaria's National Art Gallery.

The donation was sealed Monday with the exchange of diplomatic notes between Bulgaria's Foreign Minister, Rumiana Jeleva, and Japan's Ambassador to Bulgaria, Tsuneharu Takeda.

Minister Jeleva thanked the Japanese side for granting aid totaling about EUR 7,8 M to Bulgaria's culture, education, sports, and media sectors in the recent years, and for supporting Bulgaria in its post-communist transition.

The donation of EUR 345 000 to the National Art Gallery will be used for buying photo, audio, and video equipment.

In 2009, Bulgaria and Japan mark 90 years since they first established diplomatic relations, and 50 years since the restoration of their relations after their termination in World War II.
