Bulgaria Top Achiever in Implementing EU Directives

Bulgaria ranks first among the 27 EU member states in the implementation of EU directives.

This was announced Monday by the Deputy Foreign Minister, Krasimir Kostov, after the first meeting of the government's Council on EU Affairs, which is the new structure of the Borisov cabinet replacing the EU Affairs Ministry of the Stanishev cabinet.

Kostov said that Bulgaria implemented, i.e. transposed into its legislation over 99,4% of a total of 1 688 EU directives, and stressed that the Bulgarian society had failed to understand that success.

Representatives of Bulgaria's Finance Ministry have announced that the respective measures have been taken on the compliance assessments rejected by the European Commission under four of the operational programs, and that Bulgaria was going to present new compliance assessments to the Commission in October.
