The renown Polish economist, Leszek Balcerowicz, was in Sofia Monday for the presentation of the biographical book named after him, written by Polish journalist Witold Gadomski.

Gadomski wrote the Leszek Balcerowicz biography based on several dozens of interview with Balcerowicz, the father of the Polish "shock therapy" in the country's transition to market economy.

The book is about both Leszek Balcerowicz and the historical events in Poland in the 1980s and 1990s.

Leszek Balcerowicz was born in 1947. He is the architect of Poland's post-communist economic reforms. He is a former Deputy Prime Minister of Poland, former Minister of Finance in three governments, and a former Governor of the Polish Central Bank.

Professor Balcerowicz is in Bulgaria at the invitation of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the Polish Institute in Sofia. On Tuesday, he is going to give a lecture on the economic crisis in the Sheraton Hotel in Sofia.
