Petya Kolcheva, who became the first Bulgarian woman to conquer the world's highest peak on Friday, has already moved down to the base camp.

Petya Kolcheva made history as part of an American expedition and was accompanied by her husband Kamen Kolchev.

The couple is expected to get to Nepalese capital Kathmandu in a few days, where they will be staying at a hotel. According to the report the two are in good health and high spirits.

Kolcheva has been scaling mountains for years on end, including Cho Oyu (8201 m), the world´s sixth highest peak that provides the most straightforward opportunity for mountaineers to ascend above 8000 meters.

Her husband Kamen Kolchev is co-chairman of the Board of Directors of Elana financial holding.

Hristo Prodanov was the first Bulgarian to climb Mount Everest in 1984 but died on the way back.
