The holding of 2009 European Elections in Bulgaria will cost under BGN 14 M which is substantially less than the planned BGN 20 M.

This was announced Saturday by Bulgaria's State Administration Minister, Nikolay Vasilev, in an interview for Darik Radio.

Vasilev said his only major concern was the experimental electronic voting in some of the electoral sections. In his words, the Central Elections Commission is going to determine where the electronic voting could be introduced.

Vasilev suggested that electronic voting would most likely be available in the Studentski Grad Quarter in Sofia because of the concentration of "intelligent and ambitious voters". The Studentski Grad Quarter is composed mainly of student dormitories, and its populations mostly consists of university students.

In the 2009 European Elections on June 7, Bulgarians are going to vote in about 12 000 electoral sections. Each party or coalition will have a separate ballot paper, which will be placed in envelopes by the voters, and then submitted into a ballot box

Vasilev said he was more concerned about the secret of the voting for the Bulgarian Parliamentary Elections on July 5 because then the voters would have to use an integrated ballot paper on which they would mark their choice. After that the voters would fold it, and submitted into a ballot box without placing it into envelopes.
