The Sofia Mayor and GERB Leader, Boyko Borisov, has said that he does not want to take part in anymore television debates with Bulgaria PM Sergey Stanishev.

Borisov stated; "We will both look after our own work, I don't want to become a television star," BGNES reported Wednesday.

It was expected that Tuesday night's debate would be the first in a series of topical debates between the two leaders.

The much anticipated first televised debate between Stanishev and Sergey Stanishev and Borisov, finally took place in the Referendum show on the Bulgarian National Television Tuesday night.

The topic of the debate, which lasted for two hours, was on the state policy for dealing with the effects of the global financial and economic crisis on Bulgaria.

PM Stanishev and Mayor Borisov were joined by their respective team of economists. Stanishev's team included Finance Minister Plamen Oresharski, Deputy Economy and Energy Minister Yavor Kuyumdzhiev, and MEP Iliyana Yotova.

Borisov was joined by GERB party experts including former Sofia City councilors.
