Public Bicycles System To Be Launched in Sofia

The commission for the selection of a concessionaire for the construction and management of public bicycles in Sofia has opened the documents of four participants: Metropolis Group AD offering annual concession payment of EUR 63,920.87 for a 9-year concession, SOBike DZZD with annual concession payment of EUR 80,000 for a 10-year concession, Velo Archer Sofia DZZD offering EUR 111,111.11 for a 10-year concession and Citizen Association Sofia Bike offering EUR 700,000 for an 8-year concession.

The concessionaire selected must construct 33 stations with 12-14 bicycles, a total of 400 bicycles for initial implementation in the broad city centre and a subsequent expansion in other parts of the city, reported Sofia municipality.

The concessionaire must invest for a minimum of 8 years BGN 1.6 M and receives the right to 150 places for advertisements. The concessionaire has to pay a concession fee of a minimum of BGN 93,000 per year.

The price of renting a bicycle may not be higher than BGN 1 for the first hour and may be increased by BGN 1 for every subsequent hour.
